Some Fun Notes from the Weekend

Normally, I try to give you some insight into insurance, risk management, or general management or leadership or marketing issues and ideas.

But since fall is my favorite time of year and I had a fun weekend, I figured I’d just drop a few notes from the road and post a few snapshots.

If you happen to be in the Atlanta area, then check out a couple of these places.

My wife and I decided to divide and date this weekend. By that I mean, she took one of our children to this place called Dutch Monkey for doughnuts. I took the other two kiddos to McDonalds. We’ve decided that breakfast dates are a fun way to get some one-on-one time with the little ones (without breaking the bank).

If their other donuts compare to the coffee flavored creme filled thing that my wife brought me, then dang. Go get a doughnut. Good stuff!

My daughter has created her favorite carbo-loaded treat: hashbrown on a biscuit (ketchup only). Wow. She only made it half-way through.

Later that morning, we went over to the Chattahoochee Nature Center and walked off our breakfasts.

That evening, we went to my parent’s house for my dad’s 73rd birthday and a gut-wrenching Georgia Bulldog victory. And there were ribs. I do recommend the Calgary Stampede Ribs for those of you who like to grill out.  So good.

Finally, on Sunday, after church, we headed up to Burt’s Farm about an hour north of the northern Atlanta suburbs. This place has rows and rows of pumpkins and miscellaneous gourds and whatnot. It’s such a festive, fun, fall place to visit. Even if you don’t do Jack-o-Lanterns, it’s a great place to stop.

We got a couple pumpkins and a few gourds and funnel cakes (of course). I need to get my carving utensils ready because apparently Rapunzel is what I will be creating on the canvas that is the pumpkin we bought.

Risk Management Tips from the Road

You know I only have one: If we don’t enjoy some things, we’ll get crabby. If we get crabby, we’ll risk making people upset. I recommend a fun, stress-relieving weekend on occasion. It will help. I promise.

Some snaps from the weekend…
